Today, there was hubbub along West 3rd Street, centered at boutique EM&Co because Duff is shooting another announcement, this time to make teens understand that saying things like “that’s gay” is derogatory. Don’t know what organization this is for, but it’s supposed to air in October.

Hilary Duff has been scheduled to release a greatest hits album on September 23 (release date subject to change) titled The Best of Hilary Duff. This compilation will mark the end of the artist’s contract with music label Hollywood Records. The album will feature new tracks such as Reach Out and Holiday along with Hilary Duff’s previous hits. The second annual Target Presents Variety’s Power of Youth event will take place in Los Angeles on Saturday, Oct. 4, at L.A. Live to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis.The event is kicking off Monday with the official announcement by several Power of Youth ambassadors, including the Jonas Brothers, Miranda Cosgrove and Angus T. Jones, at a special gathering at the facility.

Those stars, along with Hilary Duff, Miley Cyrus, Dakota and Elle Fanning, Demi Lovato, Corbin Bleu, Eliza Dushku, Olivia Thirlby, Ashley Tisdale and Emma Roberts, will take part in the fall event. Patients from St. Jude and their families will attend an afternoon of live performances, food stations, interactive games and activities. There will also be a public online charity auction.

Hilary Duff has found a way to beat the heat, joining the cast of the new Polish brothers comedy “Stay Cool.” Duff co-stars in “Cool” with Winona Ryder, Mark Polish, Sean Astin, Chevy Chase and Jon Cryer. The project, which shoots in July in Santa Clarita, Calif., is described as a “knowing-your-age comedy,” centering on a successful author (Polish) who is forced to confront an unrequited high school crush (Ryder) when he returns home to deliver a commencement address to graduating seniors.

Duff will portray Shasta O’Neil, a sexy high school senior who flirts with the visiting author and invites him to the prom.

Mark and Michael Polish, who wrote the script, are producing with Jonathan Sheldon, Ken Johnson and Janet DuBois via their new Prohibition Pictures banner. Michael Polish is directing. Duff, who broke through by becoming a tween superstar via her Disney TV series “Lizzie McGuire,” has been slowly moving beyond that audience. She can be seen in the political satire “War, Inc.” opposite John Cusack and has films “Safety Glass” and “Greta” in the can. Duff will be back in the studio to work on her fifth album this summer.

Joe Bermudez, who previously remixed “Stranger”, “With Love”, “Come Clean” & many more Hilary Duff hits has completed his remix of Hilary’s upcoming single “Reach Out” (which she also performed live at the “Dignity Tour 2007-2008″) sampling Depeche Mode’s “Personal Jesus”. Joe has confirmed and has also said that he is happy with the way the single has come out. Quoting Joe:
“The label hasn’t told me an exact release date yet. My mixes came out really nice though and I am excited to get them out there. I am probably going to World premier the Dub on my new radio show next month. I should be posting a clip soon and will let you know. When I am getting ready to post it, I’ll try to let you know so you can get the jump on everyone.”

Many of you might have heard about “Reach Out” - Hilary even performed it at the Dignity Tour 2007/08. The track has now been confirmed as Hilary Duff’s next single! Hilary will be shooting a VIDEO for it in the upcoming weeks, and the song is set to premiere late June / early July. The track has been produced by Ryan Tedder (lead singer of band “OneRepublic”, who also produced “Gypsy Woman” for Hilary). Stay tuned for more updates on Hilary’s music!

Demi Lovato, who is set to star in the upcoming film Camp Rock alongside The Jonas Brothers was recently interviewed by Access Hollywood. The up and coming teen star mentioned - “Hilary Duff - I’d love to have her career. I’ve said that before that her career has been well respected and I respect her. JJ: You wrote two songs on your sister’s album right?
HD: Yeah, I’ve written like seven or eight songs for her albums, and I write for soundtracks and things like that. I did the Sweet Sixteen song for MTV. I love music and it’s something that I care a lot about.

JJ: So what’s on your iPod right now?
HD: A lot of old music actually. I put Gladys Knight back on my iPod. When they did that tribute with Jack Black, that was so funny. I have a lot of Gladys Knight right now. I’m still listening to James Morrison, I love him. Kate Nash. I’m listening to Eddie Vedder. I know that’s so random. The Into the Wild soundtrack…totally into. It changes all the time. I listen to a lot of old music, so its mainly like Bob Dylan and older stuff like that. Should I say Hilary Duff? I have Hilary Duff on my iPod.

JJ: Are you two very supportive of each other’s careers? (Haylie is Hilary’s older sister.)
HD: Yes, of course.

JJ: Do you try to differentiate yourselves from each other?
HD: It’s funny because in an industry where everything is so calculated and every move is thought out, like what next move to make… But we don’t do that. We’ve just gone in different directions and worked on different things. But we’re so supportive of each other. She’s actually here in New York but working something else but for just a day. I haven’t seen her in like am month. I fly home and she flies home tonight so I finally get to see her. We’re extremely close. There was a rumor that was going around (that we got into a huge fight). It’s just so crazy. I think if we’re not photographed together for like a month or a couple of weeks, they think we hate each other all of a sudden. So, I don’t know. I’m excited to go home.
